Caregivers' Compensation Guide

The Community Foundation of Northern Nevada’s Caregiver Support Initiative helps family caregivers provide better care to their loved ones with resources and support.

The resource directory website, WashoeCaregivers.org, offers over 300 resources specifically for caregivers. The Washoe Caregivers Guidebook, an instructional manual for new family caregivers, of which we have distributed 20,000 copies in over 100 locations in the community.

In addition to these resources, we are proud to announce our newest guide, the Caregivers’ Compensation Guide.

Family caregivers asked if it was possible for them to get paid while providing care for a parent, spouse, or a relative due to financial strains. One caller shared how they had to give up their career so they could go into caregiving full time. It was clear that family caregivers needed more information on the process of how to get compensated.

We had great help learning about the process from the Caregiver Support Initiative Steering Committee, which is comprised of family caregivers and experts on the subject. Through their expertise, we were able to compile the information we needed to create this Caregivers’ Compensation Guide which you can download for free.

We hope by creating this guide that family caregivers can go about the application process with ease.
